  • Who needs braces?

Dental braces are commonly recommended for people with misaligned teeth, overbites, underbites, crossbites, crowded teeth, or gaps between teeth. Orthodontic treatment can be for both children and adults. Junction Orthodontics specializes in customized treatment plans for each patient. Contact us today if you’re curious about a plan for your dental braces.

  • How long will I need to wear braces?

The duration of orthodontic treatment varies depending on the severity of the dental issues. Typically, dental braces are worn for one to three years. Junction Orthodontics will provide a more accurate estimate after evaluating your specific case for dental braces.

  • What is the best age to visit an orthodontist?

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that most children have an orthodontic screening by age seven.

According to Healthline, orthodontic treatment usually happens between the ages of nine and 14. Contact Junction Orthodontics to speak with an orthodontist today.

  • Why should I choose an orthodontist instead of a dentist for braces?

On top of dental school, an orthodontist has additional training. Orthodontists specialize in teeth development, straightening teeth, and more. Our team at Junction Orthodontics is happy to answer any additional questions you may have.

  • What can I expect after I get my braces?

You can expect a little soreness in your mouth, and your teeth may be tender to biting pressures for three to five days. Take Tylenol or whatever you normally take for headaches or discomfort. While the soreness subsides and you get used to having new braces, a specialized diet for a few days is beneficial. For the first day or so, stick to soft foods. Avoid tough meats, hard bread, and raw vegetables. Our team at Junction Orthodontics understands how long it can take people to adjust to their new dental braces.
